It stands for "Community Supported Agriculture" or is sometimes referred to as a "farmshare". When you subscribe to the CSA you are supporting the farm by helping us with funds to run on up front, this lets us purchase the supplies and stuff we need to plant/run/harvest with. In turn you get a bi-weekly or monthly box (depending on your subscription) with whats harvesting. For instance this last week the box included a bunch of bok choy, a eggplant, hyacinths flower stalks (edible), giant bell pepper, half lb of local dates, a bundle of green onions, a head of romaine, a bundle of beets, and a butternut squash.
Everything in the CSA box is fresh harvested and organic. We also include recipe cards on how to use the produce in fun and exciting dishes. We also do a live cooking show every other week featuring some of the produce in the box. A additional option is to subscribe to the Produce Plus box. That includes all the fresh produce of the normal box plus some additional baked goodies from the farm kitchen. Pickup for the boxes occurs in four locations. Either at our event on Fridays in Ahwatukee, at our stop in central Phoenix at Uptown Farmers Market on Saturday, at our Gilbert pop up farm market on Saturday, or at the farm in Laveen on Saturday.
Community farms like us are 100% funded by you, we accept no government funding or crop insurance. The future of community farming is made possible through programs like this. We appreciate all your support!
