Easy Appetizer - Baked Brie with Jam

I have a firm belief that appetizers should be simple!  The easier, the better!  But simple does not have to mean boring!  Baked Brie is one of my go-to appetizers.  I usually have most of the ingredients on hand!  It can be assembled ahead of time which makes it a perfect dish for a holiday party.  

I am using Hot Peach Pepper preserves because I love how the sweet and spicy flavor balances with the creamy brie cheese.  I think Tart Cherry or F.R.O.G would also be excellent with Brie.  For nuts, I went with pecan because I had those on hand.  Walnuts would also be a good option.  

Ingredients:

• 1 wheel of brie cheese (7-12 oz)
• 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed per package instructions)
• ⅓ cup jam
• ½ cup chopped nuts

Directions:

1. Rolled thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface
2. Place brie wheel (with rind) in the center of the dough
3. Top with jam and nuts
4. Gently wrap the brie with the dough by folding the corners of the dough over the jam-topped brie like a package (After this step, you can wrap in plastic wrap and store in the fridge for up to 24 hours before baking.)
5. Transfer to a sheet pan lined with parchment paper.  (Optional: Beat 1 egg and brush the egg wash over the pastry)
6. Bake at 400 degrees until the puff pastry is golden brown (30 minutes)
7. Allow to cool 5-10 minutes before serving.

Serve with crackers, grapes, different kinds of pickles or olives, and/or cured meat.  If you have leftover jam, pair your appetizer with a delicious jam cocktail!  Store leftovers in the fridge. Leftovers are delicious cold (assuming you even have any!)
